Alastair studied at the London Atelier of Representational Art  (LARA) , one of the UK’s leading ateliers dedicated to traditional methods of drawing and painting. The atelier training model emphasises the rigorous observational practices historically used by the great European portrait painters, forming the foundation of Alastair’s work today.

 

During this time he lived in Vauxhall, where he spent several years immersed in London’s museums, galleries and artistic community. Regular study of historic portrait collections across the capital helped shape his commitment to creating portraits with lasting artistic and personal value.
