This still life is of a lemon on a silver plate with a deep blue bottle, the colour of which complements the yellow hues of the lemon. Painted in a realist style similar to that of 16th and 17th-century Dutch still-life painters but with a more modern light and fresh feel. The contrast in texture given to the lemon and highlights help to create a more striking sculptural painting and add to the three-dimensional feel of the overall piece.
